WEST ARAPAHOE REPUBLICAN FORUM
Speaker: John Carson, CU Regent Candidate
Congressional District 6
Saturday, September 20, 2014
Littleton City Council Chambers 2255 W Berry Ave, Littleton
John Carson is the chosen Republican Party candidate to replace Jim Geddes as CU Regent for Congressional District 6 for the next six years. He is a graduate of CU and has extensive experience in the education field in the State of Colorado, most recently as Chairman of the Douglas County School Board which instituted educational reforms.
Why don’t CSU and UNC have elected Regents?
How many Regents are there and how much do they get paid?
Who prepares the CU budget, the Legislature or the Regents?
Should Regents continue to be elected or should they be appointed?
Should the Regents take a stronger stance against Federal intrusion?
What one or two things does he hope to accomplish as Regent?
Do the Regents control degree programs and courses of study?
What does it cost the taxpayers to run the Board of Regents?
How many employees does the Board have?
Unless a specific headline issue comes up, most of us don’t even remember that we have a Board of Regents for CU. But as we have seen at times, the office can be very controversial and political. It IS important who represents us on this Board. As an institution of higher learning, CU is very important to the State of Colorado. Bring your own questions and concerns to which John will be willing to speak.
Bring a friend!
Or better yet, bring two!
